Second post on Two Cents! A couple of nights ago I decided to go to Two Cents to try their non-brunch food for dinner. Their brunch food, coffee, and cakes are considerably good, but my dinner experience that night was quite disappointing. It was almost a full house but a good cafe/restaurant would be able to maintain their quality of food and service. I think Two Cents didn’t manage to do that.

(Bandung) Sushi Groove
I love food in general but if I had to choose, I’d say my all-time favorite food is sushi. Although there are many Japanese restaurants in Bandung, I think many would agree that Sushi Groove is one of the best places to go to for consistent quality and delicious sushi (and of course many other dishes on the menu). I won’t say it is very authentic however, because I’m sure most of the dishes served have been slightly modified to suit Indonesians’ palate. You will notice a wide range of sushi choices with many of them that are spicy (yes, we love to make almost everything we consume spicy) or include fried ingredients to give the sushi an extra crunch. Despite the low score on authenticity, the place is a must-try – I’m a regular! In addition to that, Sushi Groove is strategically located in Bandung’s most-visited shopping mall – Paris Van Java, widely known as just PVJ. That’s shopping and good food put in one place! (Bandung) Two Cents
Two Cents, a new cafe that was established recently in early 2014, is quickly becoming a hot spot for many people, especially youngsters in Bandung. The interior and concept of the cafe remind me so much of cafes back in Melbourne, but it is quite unique as compared to other cafes here in Bandung. Many cafes are straying away from the trend of having “cute” and heavily decorated concept and interior designs. Nowadays, it’s about simplicity and being a bit different from others. The menu is excellent, so is the location. Don’t miss it!

UPDATE: (Bandung) Porto
I never thought I would have to post this…ever. Today, I wrote a letter to Porto Restaurant. It went like this:
Subject: Very Disappointed Loyal Customer
(Bandung) Porto
We love, love, love this place. Just can’t get enough of it. One of the many reasons why we’re so fond of Porto is that they have a special menu that they change every once in several months so that you can try something new every once in a while. They have a main menu (with lots of choices) that they don’t change, and they’ve got a separate special menu that is based on different countries. As of now, that menu is based on Greek cuisine (they’ve had Italian and Czech once as well). Moreover, we feel that every dish has been made with extra care and so much thought has been put into producing it. Bottom line: this restaurant is a MUST go. Continue reading
(Bandung) Raja Rasa
Indonesia is made up of countless islands with many range of different types of cultures and of course, food. Sundanese food is one that is quite common here in Bandung. Raja Rasa is one of many people’s favourite places to go to for good Sundanese food. Continue reading
(Bandung) The Duck King – Dim Sum
We love dim sum. Our whole family does. From time to time we’ll eat at another one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in Bandung – The Duck King. It’s located inside the Paris Van Java Mall, arguably the most popular mall around. Convenient huh? Anyway, for this food trip, we only had dishes that are listed on the paper menu (placemat) for dim sum. We’ll probably give a different review for the other non-dim sum dishes another day. Continue reading
