I was trying to find a good place to have brunch within Southbank and it was actually tougher than I thought, since there are normally plenty of brunch places in the CBD and South Melbourne. The Bond Store is is conveniently located in Southbank and has pretty good reviews. It is right next to the Eureka tower and also close to the Southgate Center, and behind the fancy restaurants alongside Yarra River. The restaurant is easily accessible, wasn’t very crowded when I got there, and it was comfortable and relaxing. However, I personally think there are definitely better places to have coffee and brunch, and have better atmosphere as well.

Service was decent, although an order for coffee was forgotten.

Warm and cozy interior, quite a number of seats provided, and it’s a nice place to sit around and chat. But it’s a little dark, and didn’t feel very inviting. Also, it has a more restaurant feel to it compared to a cafe.
- Non-smoking area: Yes, seats are indoors and non-smoking.
- Vegetarian dishes: A number of vegetarian dishes available, including Buttery Field Mushrooms on Rye Toast.
- Price range: $$ (AU$10 – $16 for most main dishes.)

– Food Experience –
1) Flat White:
I thought that the Flat White was pretty well-made, although I’ve had little experience with flat whites.
The Mocha was also made pretty well, even though the presentation wasn’t the best.
3) Lamb Cutlets:
My friend who ordered this dish was pretty disappointed when it was served – there were too little of the actual lamb cutlets and too much salad. Even though the mutton itself was delicious, the plate made it difficult to cut since it was curved, so it actually took some effort to eat.
4) Pork Belly:
I would recommend the Pork Belly to those who would like to try eating at The Bond Store. Even though the skin of the pork belly wasn’t crispy like how I’m normally used to, the pork was mostly tender (some were quite tough to cute though) and tasted amazing. I loved how the sweet and sourish sauce and salad complemented the pork belly and flatbread. Bits of salty and crispy fried pork belly skin completed the dish (yum).
